The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy (ITHMA) & Apickong are jointly hosting the International Summit of Advanced Light Medical Treatment and Clinical Applications of Medical Aromatherapy with Future Trends: A Global Perspective.

The global healthcare landscape is undergoing a profound transformation. With aging populations, rising rates of chronic illnesses, and a growing number of individuals experiencing suboptimal health, traditional healthcare systems are increasingly strained. These systems often struggle with inefficiencies, high costs, and limited accessibility—leaving a growing gap between medical services and modern health needs.

Amid these challenges, Advanced Light Medical treatment and Medical Aromatherapy have emerged as innovative paradigms for next-generation healthcare. Advanced Light medical treatment—defined by convenience, efficiency, and precision—leverages technology and service innovation to address the structural limitations of traditional care.

As an indispensable branch of the medical system, medical aromatherapy possesses a deep historical foundation and unique clinical value. With a long and rich heritage, it has been continuously passed down and developed over time, gradually forming a distinctive therapeutic system. Modern scientific research has revealed that the essential oils used in medical aromatherapy contain hundreds of active compounds. These bioactive components can be absorbed through both the olfactory system and the skin, allowing them to penetrate deep into the body and directly influence the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. Extensive practical applications and rigorous scientific studies have consistently demonstrated the remarkable efficacy of medical aromatherapy in relieving stress, improving sleep, regulating emotions, and supporting the treatment of chronic conditions. The trend toward precision in medical care, combined with the natural therapeutic value of medical aromatherapy, is shaping a new blueprint for global health management.

To promote the deep integration of advanced light medical technologies with real-world primary care, the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy (ITHMA) and Apickong are pleased to co-host the International Summit of Advanced Light Medical Treatment and Clinical Applications of Medical Aromatherapy with Future Trends: A Global Perspective.

This international academic summit will bring together leading experts, clinical researchers, grassroots medical professionals, and key industry stakeholders from around the world. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and case study presentations, the summit will offer a collaborative platform for exploring the practical innovations in light medicine and the scientific advancement of medical aromatherapy. The goal is to accelerate the localization and implementation of frontier medical technologies in community-level healthcare, improve the quality and efficiency of basic medical services, and make world-class health solutions accessible to millions of families in China and beyond.

Attending Guests

Gabriel Mojay

Gabriel Mojay was born in England but moved with his family aged five to Bethesda, Maryland, where his Father, an organic chemist, was employed by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) to undertake cancer research in conjunction with a clinician at the Washington Hospital Center.

Returning to England in 1972, Mr Mojay spent a year before attending the University of Bristol studying in Paris, France, where he was introduced to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) through the traditional dietary approach of Michio Kushi, leading exponent of “macrobiotics”. In 1984 he completed a practitioner qualification course in “shiatsu” therapy at the Kushi Institute of London.

From 1984-88 Mr Mojay undertook a UK 3-year program in traditional Chinese acupuncture together with further studies in TCM with instructors including Giovanni Maciocia, who in his lifetime was a Visiting Professor at Nanjing University of TCM. Mr Maciocia remains the most notable modern academic author on TCM in the English language through his series of textbooks by academic publisher Elsevier. Mr Mojay in his acupuncture practice emphasized the use of botanical medicines in the European and North American tradition after completing a two-year program in the therapeutic use of “Western” (often aromatic) herbs. Following a program of studies in scientific aromatherapy with pre-eminent French researchers Pierre Franchomme and Dr Daniel Pénoël MD, together with Prof. Dietrich Wabner of Munich University, Mr Mojay subsequently specialized in the therapeutic application of essential oils, in both his acupuncture practice and as an instructor.

Since 1990, Mr Mojay has been Principal of the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy (ITHMA), based in London until 2020 and now headquartered in California. ITHMA was approved by the UK Department for Trade and Industry as meeting the requirements necessary to be classified as an “Institute” in 1996. It has provided a one-year in-class training program in clinical aromatherapy to some 1500 individuals including physicians and nurses, based for many years at Regent's University London, and on an annual basis in Provence, France.

In 1990 Mr Mojay founded a professional association that subsequently amalgamated to form the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA), a UK-registered nonprofit charity with some 2000 members in 50 countries, launched at the Parliamentary UK House of Lords in 2002. Mr Mojay has lectured at conferences hosted by the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA), Canadian Alliance of Aromatherapists (CAOA), Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists (CFA), Czech Association of Aromatherapists, New Zealand Register of Holistic Aromatherapists (NZROHA), Botanica (France), International Herb Symposium (IHS) and the Canadian Herb Conference. He has given seminars on aromatherapy and essential oil therapeutics for organizations in Australia, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Mexico, the UK, and in the USA for the Berkeley Herbal Center, the California School of Herbal Studies and the United Plant Savers' International Herb Symposium.

Mr Mojay is an international essential oil product consultant for companies including Ideal Living LLC of California, which has introduced onto the US market an advanced essential oil diffuser capable of inhibiting microbial aerosols; and Joymeo of Guangzhou, People's Republic of China, which as corporation is dedicated to bringing the boundless potential benefits of light medical solutions including aromatherapy/essential oil interventions to the grassroots communities of Zhōngguó.

Mr Mojay is co-author of “Shiatsu - the Complete Guide” and author of “Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit”. He continues to research and write about Clinical Aromatherapy and Aroma-Phytotherapy, and is planning a new Advanced Diploma Course in Clinical Aromatherapy and Herbal Medicine commencing with a 9-day intensive Summer School in August 2025 in New York State, near Lake Placid.

(Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit)》。 (Integrated Diploma Course in Clinical Aromatherapy and Herbal Medicine),为期 9 天的暑期强化培训班。
